Langkawi Cable Car

If there is one thing we would like to recommend to every potentional visitor coming to Langkawi, it’s the famous cable car located near the Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells) Waterfall.

We went today and it was absolutely wonderful. Such a great experience really! The base price is RM 40 for Malaysians and RM 55 for international visitors. It might seem a bit much for some people BUT you also get access to SkyDome, SkyRex & 3D Art Langkawi Museum and all of that was a very nice addition to the cable car.

Without giving out too much information, we can assure you that the included attractions are worth visiting and you will definitely enjoy it ! So when you buy the ticket for cable car, don’t forget all the rest. You can easily find everything, there are markers everywhere, it’s easy to get oriented and if not, just ask some of the staff there πŸ™‚

It took about 10 minutes to get to the middle station where you can get off your “car” and take a look around + snap some pictures of course. Then you can take another cable car and reach the top in like 5 minutes. At the top station, you can find toilets, souvenirs shops and something to drink and eat as well.

When you reach the top, buying a ticket to the SkyBridge is a must and it costs only RM 5. It’s magnificent and you get the most beautiful view around the island.

Island Hopping

Island hopping

… is the most basic and very popular activity you can do here in Langkawi. Why basic ? Because everyone is supposed to participate, it’s like the first MUST DO thing to do here.

It IS very popular. You can tell by the amount of people there is on the islands. NO, it’s not like the boats are ramming each other in order to get to the island first. Just be prepared to meet other people that’s all πŸ™‚

The first stop is the at the Dayang Bunting Island where you can find the famous Lake of the Pregnant Maiden. Be advised, there is an entrance fee (which is more expensive for tourists for some reason).

After a few minutes of walking you actually arrive at the lake. You can rent a swan boat and enjoy a nice cruise around the lake. Or just swim in the lake. Whatever floats your boat.

Langkawi – Island Hopping

The next stop is eagle watching. You can watch our video below:

Actually our eagle watching experience was a bit short due to some lady who arrived late from the Pregnant’s Maiden Lake. So our captain threw some food to the eagles, we were watching for a few minutes and then we went away.

The last stop was at sunny beach where we were able to relax and enjoy a nice swim. The beach is long so if you decide to go further you can definitely find a spot with not so much people around πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading, see you next time!

Cenang is not the only one..

Tired of Cenang beach ?

Do you know there are many beaches that are less crowded and maybe even nicer than the most popular Cenang ?

Head north and discover the Black Sand Beach. It’s not really black, but still it’s beautiful and peaceful. We had the pleasure to be there completely alone 3 weeks ago. It was magnificent. There is a lot of shadows so you can hide from the sun πŸ™‚ Also a lot of spots where you can place directly under the sun if you want to get a nice tan πŸ™‚

The Black Sand Beach
An eagle flying above the water in Black Sand Beach

Also we spotted a few eagles that day. The sea was calm and we had no waves so it was possible to enjoy the water. The beach itself is long so if you keep to the left side you should be able to avoid seeing the ugly cement factory that is sadly a part of Langkawi. Kinda ruins the view, you know..

We have one more beach on our mind. It’s called Tanjung Rhu Beach. We like this one much more than the previous one and it’s definitely worth it to visit this beach multiple times. There were a few people but scattered across the whole beach area so nothing to worry about. Also the surrounding is amazing. There are boats with tourists that are making waves so sometimes it’s a bit tricky to enjoy a nice swim but it is not that big of an issue.

Tanjung Rhu

Well, if you want to enjoy a private moment at the beach, the first one is a top pick. Tenjang Rhu is also very beautiful but expect some company πŸ™‚

See you soon,

Sea Splash -Amazing day trip

Boat at the peer - amazing day trip

We have experienced yet another trip with Kash Island Adventures and it was awesome ! It was a boat trip ! When I first heard that, I was a bit frightened because I tend to get seasick on boats. Luckily, we have some seasick pills with us so we split one and each of us took a half. After that, everything was okay !!!

About the trip. The plan was to meet at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club which is located in Kuah. We took a GRAB in the morning and arrived at about 8:30 at the place. Kash was still on his way so we had a bit of time to explore the area and take some pictures.

Yeah, that went well..

That shark mouth was calling πŸ™‚

After 30 minutes we met Kash and he told us that the guests are coming soon and we can go to the dock and take some pictures of the boat first. We really wanted to, but the security guard there did not let us through, so we had to wait for the whole group to get there. Finally, the guests arrived. It was a big family, all of them very nice, polite and friendly, so it was a pleasure for us to accompany them on this trip.

The boat was looking good, no visible holes in the hull, that was a good sign πŸ™‚ The staff was there to meet us and they were all looking very friendly and they were smiling all the time.

It was time to get aboard !!!

sea splash adventure
Our boat for the day trip

We had a couple of seconds to take a look around the boat while there were still no people except the crew. We took our chance and made a few videos and photos. The boat was nice not just from the outside but also from the inside.

There were some snacks prepared for us at the table plus some drinks, so that was nice..

After a while we went inside to hear our short briefing. The boat engine started after that and we were ready to set sail !

Food Boat Snack Buffet
Delicious snacks served during Boat Trip

I was taking videos throughout the trip and Niky was taking pictures on our camera. We went to the upper deck to meet the captain. He was so kind to let the guests sit behind the boat’s wheel ! Of course just for a while, because in unexperienced hands, you know what could have happened.

The sea was calm, sun was shining on us all. It was a great relax for everybody. Our first visit was the Eagle Square in Kuah, where we of course took some pictures from the boat. There were actually a lot of people that morning, so we were lucky not to be there but on a boat instead :-)))

Then we sailed for about an hour and arrived at our next stop, the fish farm. The captain nicely parked the boat along the pier and everyone hopped of the ship to see some fish ! I got the chance to hold a “sea cucumber” in my hand and it was, let’s say okay… Does it look familiar to you ? Yeah, don’t say that out loud !

Then we stepped outside to see the fish and took some pictures as well. Also I tried to make a video so I put our action camera in to the water (with a waterproof case ofc) and filmed the fish. You can take a look at the result here:

A short video from our Day Trip

They also offer to swim with the fish, but we were not feeling like doing that. You can also snorkel with them. Sounds interesting, but the fish teeth looked sharp so no thank you !

You know what time was after the fish farm ? It was lunch time ! We were hungry as wolves. Take a look on all the food they prepared for us.

Lunch buffet on boat trip
Lunch time – tasted very good.

After lunch, everyone was resting for a while and it was time to head back to Kuah. BUT ! On the way back there, it was time for … FOOOOOR …. SEA SPLASH !!!!

No, it’s not just the name of the boat. It’s also a name for this !

boat trip swimming in water
This fun action is called ‘Sea Splash’

So yeah, everyone got their life vest and the fun was ready to begin. Actually, it wasn’t the first time for this family to go with Kash on this amazing trip. I think it was their 3rd time. So that should tell you something about the quality of this trip yeah ?

Captain on boat and people in the water
Instructions from the Captain

I and Niky we were there as the filming crew so we did not participate, but it looked like soo much fun.

Well, I was feeling a bit tired so I told Niky I might go to the front of the ship and take a quick nap there. Okay, it was maybe a bit longer than “quick”. The sea was like a lullaby and my eyes closed for a while longer.

Niky took advantage of that and took a picture. Sorry guys, not gonna publish that for certain reasons…

As we were getting closer to the end of our trip, the crew prepared some watermelons as a desert so that was nice.

It was time for a group picture !

These are the guests also with Mr. Kash. We would love to thank him for this awesome adventure and also the family for being so great and friendly πŸ™‚

See you next time,

Durian Perangin Waterfall

Yesterday we went to visit the Durian Perangin waterfall. It was a bit late, around 16:00, so we were deciding whether to go or not. But yeah, we went there and it was great !

The Durian Perangin waterfall area and its surroundings in Langkawi.

The path to the waterfall was a bit steep but it was worth it. We could see many beatiful flowers and trees along the way. The area is designed very well and looks like a park. So even walking there was relaxing and we took a few photos.

Colorful plants and herbs in the Durian Perangin waterfall area.
The path to the top of the Durian Perangin waterfall in Langkawi.

We saw a monkey walking on the railing but as we were getting closer, it disappeared somewhere in the forest.

Finally, we arrived at the waterfall.

The water was cold but refreshing so we made a couple of photos and then Honza went for a swim. It was actually a very cool experience.

Imagine what it must look like when it’s wet season :-O

Definitely a recommended place to visit while in Langkawi.

See you later,

Nature walk with KIA

The nature walk started early in the morning because of the life in the forest. So about 7:30 Kash picked us up from the homestay. The way took about a half an hour and we also stopped to grab some sandwiches along the way. We parked our cars next to the forest and then we went to the jungle with Ayu Geo-Nature team. So excited what we could see and hear around us.

Our awesome guide is showing us the herbs and plants that grow in the rainforest in Langkawi.

Our guide Mr. Osman is just great and very professional and when we went with him we really enjoyed his speech because it takes you deep into the nature and you feel like you are part of it. So we went through the jungle and we were listening to all the sounds around us and he explained to us what are those sounds. Cicada was one of the noisiest ones, such a loud creature. We also found one tree and there was an old cicada skin on it. He also mentioned that cicada lives under the ground for almost 17 years (some of them), eats the roots and then it goes out up to the trees and makes this noice with their wings and belly to attract the females. Then they die after like 2-17 days, such a shame.

An old cicada skin on a tree.

There are many plants and herbs in the forest (obviously) and Osman explained us what they are good for, local people used to use it as a medicine, face masks or just use it as a bag. We saw many termite mounds, their color depends on the type of termites. We could see let say orange-brown termite mounds and also the beige one. They are very important for the forest because they eat the leaves and without them the jungle would be just full of it.

And then suddenly Niky spotted something black with white eyes, sitting on the tree and just looking down at us, wondering if we are dangerous or not. Oh my God it was a dusky leaf monkey. We went further to it and there was more of them, sitting, eating the leaves and jumping from tree to tree.

A dusky leaf monkey is examining us from the top.

In the jungle we could also hear a Great hornbill. We saw him later flying above the waterfall. In the jungle there are lots of old big trees. They are hundreds of millions years old.

A huge and wide tree in the rainforest.

When we finished the walk, we went to the waterfall to take some nice pictures and we could also jump and swim there in a small pond. That was amazing, the water was refreshing and so clear.

Pasir Tengkorak Bio Geo Trail

It was a nice Friday morning – 18.1.2019. The sun was just starting to show up behind the horizon and we knew that our first trip with Kash Island Adventures was waiting for us. We were excited since we had no idea what was coming.

We were picked up at around 8:30 in the morning and we went to the northern part of the beautiful island of Langkawi. The ride took about 20-30 minutes and we met new friends from the Rimbawi team along the way. Actually, they were our tour guides for that day.

Finally, we arrived at a parking spot and our trail was ready to begin. We walked down the path and along the way we cleared some of the fallen leaves and branches. It was one of the hot weather here in Langkawi and the humidity was high, but what would you expect in the tropics ?! But in the rimbawi (forest) it was actually a nice walk because trees always cover you from the sun.

We stepped down following a bunch of “stairs” and then we stopped for a minute. We had a great view of a hill and a cave that was almost 500 000 000 years old, just WOW ! You could hear a cement factory that is located in the distance behind the peak.

Hill that is over 500 hundred milion years old. Oldest in SEA Asia.

It took a few more steps and then we had our first obstacle before us. As you can see in the picture below, the path was broken and we had to improvise. The Rimbawi team used a rope and they wrapped it up around the trees so it was stable and secure. Then we were able to continue on our way. What an adventure!

Then we continued on our way and after another few minutes we arrived at the shore.

Bio Geo trail in Pantai Pasir Tengkorak area.

Walking there like that was only possible due to low tide. Otherwise, we would see nothing but water. There are natural deposits of sandstone and quartz and we saw some amazing shapes and formations. A geology enthusiasts would love this place ! It was absolutely stunning. We are not keen into all the details but just looking at something like that was a real pleasure for us.

At the end of our path we arrived at the beach of skull. We could see the island of Tarutao.

There is a legend about the beach that says this:

Tarutao island, that belongs to Thailand, is located approximately 5 kilometers from Langkawi. In the 1930s it was used as a PRISON. Sharks🦈 and crocodiles🐊 were making sure, that nobody who managed to escape the island survived. The dead bodies☠️ were then washed up on the beach in Langkawi, and it is now known as the beach of Skull. The head 💀 was usually separated from the body and only a skull appeared in the sand. The area was also used by pirates, who used to throw overboard their victims into the sea.

That was the end of our lovely trip and we would love to thank Kash Island Adventures and the amazing Ayu Geo-nature team for taking us with them on this amazing journey.

Until next time !
